The Department of Rural and Community Development have announced the launch of the Streetscape Enhancement Measure for 2022. Kildare County Council are seeking expressions of interest from interested towns/villages that wish to improve the visual appearance of their urban streetscapes.

This measure will support a project proposal for ONE town or village (population < 15,000) per local authority and can include activities such as painting (including murals), signage replacement, shopfront improvement, lighting, and canopies.

Each local authority may be provided with a grant allocation for the town/village of up to €100,000 subject to departmental funding approval.

Eligible premises include commercial, residential or unoccupied buildings in an area defined by a local authority and within selected town/village centre locations. The proposed works should be of a sufficient scale of which to improve the character and appearance of town/village centres

The works to be completed will be included in one single Streetscape Enhancement project proposal for the town/village which will be subsequently submitted to the Department for approval.
